According to the UN data, the world’s population is now at 6831 millions. The world is really getting crowded. The large number of populations added with continuous developments that the world is facing, contributed to various environmental problems. One being more dominant than others is climate change.

This week alone, here in New York, the temperature is tremendously high reaching up to 102F yesterday. It is expected to become higher towards the weekend.– Demn!

Well, I think while the world is still trying to resolve the issue of fundings and technology transfers for climate change mitigations and adaptations, there’s one thing that ALL of us could do…

Should all 6831 millions people in the world plant a tree today, we will have 6831 million trees to help reduce these heat waves..

What say you? - I say WE SHOULD EACH PLANT A TREE!!!

the question of respect

I am no Angel. But, I try my best to ensure that what ever that i eat is Halal.

Friends and colleagues are pretty much aware of this.

I don’t have any problems with those who don’t really bother with what they ate. But, am pretty much insulted by a friend, who by now( i think) should really understand my principle, but yet.. insist nak makan itik pancung :)..

Hari ini adalah sangat panas, dan dakwanie sanngat banyak komplen.

HRH Queen Elizabeth is in town.

The Queen is in town after 30 years and she will deliver a statement at the UN today. Because of that, the UN security is a bit tight today.  I have to take out my laptop and remove my belt at the security check in point. It feels like at the airport, without departing planes.

Outside the UN gate, I saw not less than 6 News Station Vans , with their crews busy setting up for the Queen’s news coverage.

No.. I am not complaining. It’s just so hot outside and all these security things is driving me crazy.

Hmm would loved to watch HRH Queen deliver her statement. It would be super cool.

Dah seminggu balik. Like my boss put it ” selamat kembali ke alam pekerjaan”. Yo lah… den nak kojo lah ni…

I have been attending ECOSOC High Level Segment since I got back.

Ada sedikit bosan la… because, what was meant to be an interactive dialog session always ends up as a reading my lengthy, boring statement!!.

But,

Because this year ECOSOC’s theme is about gender equality and women empowerment, banyak jugak la benda menarik  yg aku dapat tau…

1) most women in Norway work part time

2) only 6% of Mongolia’s cabinet minister are women

3)some countries do provide flexible working hours for both mom and dads to take care of their children.

4) In some countries both developed/developing, women are struggling to get gender equality!

Well, sebenarnya banyak lagi… but all I am trying to say is :

thank god I am a Malaysian, where women are not discriminated, where women were allowed to vote since Malaysia’s independence, where women can become minister or what ever they want to be, and where women dont have to worry about not getting certain perks because they are women.

Thanks Malaysia!!!

Tok Din Kecoh

Dah setahun aku tak balik.

Rupanya Tok Din kecoh depan umah ni masih lah tak berubah - ubah perangai nyoh!!

Second day aku kat umah, sebelum pi Intan.. Tok Din tanya

” Buat apa balik?”

“PTK” aku jawab…

“oooo, saya ada bawak sorang PTD macam ko ni lah…. balik PTK macam ko ni jugak….”

dalam ati aku nak jer cakap… “ye ler.. Tok Din kan bawak teksi…. memang la bawak macam- macam jenis orang..” tapi sebab jet lag… malasssss nak cakap so “hmmm” kan ajer lah…

Selepas mendapati diri tak dilayan.. Tok Din tanya lagi…

” KSN tu kenapa? ”

aku agak terkejut lah dengan subjek yg kunun2 serius ini..

“Kenapa apa?’ aku tanya .. confuse…

“Habes semua JUSA dia letak kat pool tu kenapa?” tanya Tok Din macam Perdana Menteri..

up to this stage Zalwani sudah sangat menyampah…

SITI QALBU :—> Masalah juga kalau gov bagi duit kat peminjam. Mesti banyak case duit dah dapat tapi rumah tak jadi beli akan berlaku. Jadi langkah selamat—> bagi la kat kontraktor terus.

New Year at the Big Apple.

Happy New Year Folks!!

Mon and I celebrated New Year at the Times Square this year. This is my first New Year celebration ever and also the first one in NYC. To be in NYC and never celebrated New Year at the Times Square is a huge sin!!! So , Mon and I despite the cold weather, determined that we are not going to miss it.

The office closed at 3.00 on Thursday afternoon, at 4.30, Mon and I arrived at 42nd street at 7 avenue, only to discover that most of the road has been blocked. The security was very tight, policemen were everywhere. We were told by the police, to enter through 8 avenue. So we walked another block only to be told that we cant enter at 42nd street, they have closed it, we then made our way to 43rd street, it was also closed. We walked further up, until 53rd street where we finally allowed to crossed to 7th avenue.

Like I said the security was tight. Every junction was blocked by a bunch of policemen. From 53rd street we tried to get as close as possible to 42nd street. I was told that people have been waiting since 6.am so, although in my mind we are among the earliest , the nearest we could get was at 48th street. Which is kind of OK because we can still see the ball and the large screen.

sesiapa yang bawak back pack was denied entry. Aku baru beli back pack kaler hitam ok!! Armani ok!!!Yang aku bawak masa pegi time square itu. harus lah polis tu tak bagi masuk. Mak sudah agak frust di situ, walaubagaimanapun, memandangkan tahap kebijak kan yang tidak dapat dinafikan, aku pun sudah masuk satu diner at 48street, keluarkan barang dari bag itam baru itu, bukak jaket, pakai beg and pakai jaket semula. Lalalalalalal, harus lah lepass dari pandangan pak polisi

So there we are at Times Square. At 8 pm it started to rain, at 10, it started to snow. And it was freaking cold!!!. Despite the coldness, the crowd, faithfully remained at their spot. Most of them are tourist. Canadians, Chinese, French and of course 2 fat Malaysians ;). While waiting we were entertained by the life show projected at the huge screen.

At 12.59 the countdown begin. The ball started to move down, and sharp at 00.00 1st January 2010, the ball reached it’s base, the screen screamed Happy New Year,  firecrackers lightened up the sky and paper confettis were flying in the air. And this year as you all might have already know, there’s J.Lo in her sexy cat suit singing “LET’S GET LOUD” (tak sejuk ke J.Lo oiii??)

It was FUN. It was one hell of an experience. As the crowd slowly leaving, so did Mon and I. We had our late night supper at a Korean dinner at 48 on Lexington before continuing our journey to 1st avenue. As I reached home, my legs were killing me, but the experience was worth it.
