swine flu
Hi peeps. Yup I know.. I have beenn awaaay. Banyak kerja, banyak report nak buat. Bila datang mood nak blogging, rasa macam dah nak muntah pandang komputer
I was officially diagnosed with swine flu few weeks ago. I think part of it was my own mistake. My toncil was swollen, a few days before I got swine flu, I was on mc for a day because of the toncil, without feeling completely better, I went to work and to UN as usual, and that was on a Wednesday. My padan muka moment came on Friday, I was having a very bad fever, and decided that I need to see the UN doctor ,whom later scolded me for coming to work and asked me to go and see my personal doctor, which I did.
My fever was 110 F and I failed my breathing test gracefully. My personal doctor immidietely told me that it might be Swine Flu and put me on this famous swine flu medication called Tamiflu, antibiotics and presrcibed me with some kind of steriod inhaler to overcome the congestion in my respiratory system. Well, something that you got to know about the medical services here in the US is that, clinics can only prescribed medicine for you, you have to buy the medicine at a drug store (pharmacy) it’s totally different from Malaysia, that you will get the medicine prescribed to you after your consultation with the doctor. Here not only you have to pay a huge amount of money for the consultation fee, you will have to spend another HUGE amount of money for the medicine. Well for my swine flu medicines, I paid about USD 600. (kalau lah dapat duit itu digunakan untuk membeli belah alangkah bagusnya!!!)
Well, did I not mentioned that Mon had undergone a surgery on his left foot on the same day that I was diagnosed with swine flu? So, after my check up, I went to see Mon at the surgery center where he had the surgery. Due to some complications, the operation that was supposed to take only 2 hours end up to be 4 hours. Mon was already 2 hours in the operation theater when I arrived at the center, and I have to wait for another 2 hours. When he is finally done, it was already dark and cold outside. We took a cab home, and since it was too cold and given my terrible health condition, I just don’t have the energy to drag my self to the nearest pharmacy to get my medicines. So that night, I settled with tons of panadol actifast (that i brought from Malaysia) and Tylenol cough syrup that I bought few days before I got sick.
My fever got worst. It’s like my head was literally on fire. I soak one of my snow cap in ice water and wear it on my head and keep on repeating that routine every time the snow cap dries. One of the swine flu symptom is joint pain, my body was aching badly as all my joints seem to be killing me slowly and all that I can do was sleep , take panadol and sleep again. Since Mon just had his operation and can’t stress his leg, I have to go and buy the medicine myself. So I dragged myself to the pharmacy in a cold rainy Saturday, only to find out that the antibiotics prescribed to me was out of stock. Since I don’t have the energy to go to other pharmacies , I just went back home and try to make do with what ever I have at that moment.
My knight in shining armour came later that night. Kak Lini and her husband Abang Rahman, came bearing foods ( yeayy!!!). Kak Lini also volunteered to get me those antibiotics that I needed. The next day she came with cranberry juice and lots of other things. While some people didn’t even bother to SMS, Kak Lini and her husband came almost every day to make sure Mon and I are ok. She also informed my personal doctor about my condition, and as a result to that I was awarded with 5 days medical leave.
A new symptom developed after few days. I started coughing blood. My mom was crazily worried when I told her. The blood coughing thing stopped after 3-4 days, and when it stopped, i felt much much muccch better.
So peeps, sebagai org yang telah berpengalaman mengalami selseba B**I ini, if you have these symptoms, please immediately see your doctor:
1) High fever,
2) flu/ running nouse
3) cough
4) breathing problems
5) joint pain
And you have it, you are not contagious after 7 days.
Will update later… as for now.. LAPAR
p/s: as i mentioned earlier, ini adalah cerita berminggu yang lepas. I am now feeling better and boleh lari lari and lompat2 ke sana sini. But, my doctor needs to monitor my health conditions for the next 6 months.

please please please take care of your health. both of you!
