fleet week!!

If you guys watch Sex And The City religiously, you will remember an episode where Samantha went heads over heels for men in uniforms who flooded the city for Fleet Week. Well people, the fleet week took place last week. All around town you can see young, well build navy officer walking handsomely in their white uniform. I have to admit that they are damn cute.

Apart from fleet week and the memorial day sale that i missed due to insufficient fund ( ha ha ha), mon and I went bowling last week. It’s the annual tournament organized by Malaysia Club New York. I think the WHOLE world knows that I SUCK at bowling. Surprisingly I didn’t end up at the last place!! ha ha ha ( ramai lagi org tak terer rupanya). We met some new friends from Bank Negara. I bet not many people knows that Bank Negara also have branches abroad. Of all the new people that we met , Mon has his eyes on this one petite lady. I watched him as he watched her ( oo gatal yer…, nak kena ni) and guessed what? That petite lady was his old friend from English Course he took after MRSM. Anum that’s her name has lived 2 years in new York following her husband who is working for Bank Negara - cawangan New Yok!!. What a small world.

Mon is so damn happy about it, as now not only he has a gossip partner but also New York Shopping Guru!. You can check his status on facebook (sangat over ok!)

Since Monday is a public holiday, we decided to do some groceries shopping. With our ability to eat, added by this cold weather, we run out of stock in no time. Mon brought me to Jackson Heights in Queens. It took us about 30 mins on the subway to go to Jackson Heights. The area hosted numbers of groceries stores and halal restaurants. We had a tremendously big lunch at an Afghan restaurant before went shopping (for groceries lah!). Being in Jackson Heights is like being in Jalan Masjid India but at a larger scale. Most of the populations/ shop owners are Indians. There are shops selling Hindi Movie DVD’s and almost all of the groceries shops (obviously I went to more than one kan?) played songs from Shah Rukh Khan movies!

I would like t end this entry by listing all the things I thought I never find in this part of the world but, are there at Jackson Heights.
